Amoxicillin 500 Capsules: Uses, Effects and Safety Guidelines

Amoxicillin 500 is a prescription penicillin-type antibiotic containing 500mg of amoxicillin per capsule. It is used to treat susceptible bacterial infections, which may include certain chest, ear, throat, dental, skin and urinary tract infections. It works by disrupting the formation of the bacterial cell wall. Amoxicillin does not treat colds, influenza or other viral infections.

Possible Effects and Side Effects

When the medicine is appropriate for the infection, symptoms may begin to improve within a few days. Common side effects include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach discomfort, skin rash and thrush. Stop taking the medicine and obtain urgent medical help for facial or throat swelling, breathing difficulty, fainting, a severe or blistering rash, or severe, persistent or bloody diarrhoea.
